INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE VENTILATION SYSTEM
Hints and tips to install a ventilation system
The correct placement of the extractor is fundamental for a good ventilation results.
Installing the extractor fan in the wrong point can compromise the desired effect.
To ventilate an environment you can adopt two solutions:
- extract stale air from one side of the area delegating an already present opening to work as emission of fresh air
- introduce forced air from outdoors and extract from the other side of the room. In this case you will introduce roughly 15-20% more than the air extracted. With this solution you will avoid external currents forming.
WHERE NOT TO INSTALL THE SYSTEM
- in a position where turbulence can occur
- above doors or windows
- avoid installing in the proximity of a unique opening.
During the winter period a good ventilation helps save energy, because it avoids the opening of windows or doors which can cause the temperatures to drop, obligating then use of more thermal energy.
In the case of installation in ducting, its advised to apply a gravitational closure mounted on the side of the extractor or non-return valve on the mouth of the fans exhaust. The use of these closures penalize the capacity of the fan, but eliminate inconveniences such as, air currents, the return of fumes or odours and guarantees a higher protection against weathering of electrical components.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING THE SYSTEM
In order for the extractor fan to function correctly over time its ideal for the mechanical components to undergo periodic maintenance . On the blades of the vent, for example, deposits of dust and grease can form which unbalance the impeller which raises the power absorption of the motor and the noise levels and weaken the mechanical parts, other than the natural loss of capacity. Its difficult to indicate the necessary period of time for maintenance of a fan as this depends non how frequently it is used and the type of fumes extracted. In the case of a daily use, its advised to clean the impeller and grilles at least once a month.
