The measurement of pH in agricultural activities is very important for the influence it has on plant growth. The soil can be acidic, neutral or alkaline, depending on its pH value. Most plants prefer a pH range of 5.5 to 7.5; but some species prefer more acidic or alkaline soils. However, each plant requires a particular pH range for optimal growth

In addition to being supplied with a unique pH electrode made for soil analysis, this pH meter has Hanna's unique CAL Check ™ feature that alerts the user to potential problems during the calibration process. This is very important as the probe is likely to be covered in soil. This coating can easily lead to errors in the pH measurement. By comparing the previous calibration data with the current calibration, the instrument will inform the user, with messages on the display, when the probe needs to be cleaned, replaced or if the pH buffer may be contaminated. After calibration, the general condition of the probe is displayed on the screen as a percentage. The condition of the probe is affected by both the offset and slope characteristics of the pH electrode, both of which can be found in the GLP data, including readings stored in the meter or transferred to a PC.

• The electrode is uniquely designed with a conical tip and triple ceramic junction to improve performance in low moisture soils.
• The probe has a built-in amplifier to reduce humidity noise which can make the probe connection to the meter.
• The conical tip is made of durable LT glass and allows direct measurement in the ground. If rocks are present, an auger is provided to make a hole for the probe.
