The lysimeter allows you to extract a solution from the ground by creating a vacuum (negative pressure) inside the tube, greater than the tension of the water in the soil. The pressure variation establishes a hydraulic gradient that will allow the solution to flow through the porous ceramic tip inside the lysimeter tube. Generally it is necessary to create a vacuum of about -60 cb (centibar); Depending on the length of the lysimeter tube, you may need to take out the included 30 mL syringe several times.
The lysimeter is compatible with multiparameter benchtop photometers and for nutrient analysis. In this way, the user can easily monitor the level of fertilizing nutrients, such as ammonia, nitrates, phosphorus and potassium. Analysis of the pH, conductivity (EC) and total dissolved solids (TDS) of the soil solution can also be performed with a wide range of portable and benchtop instruments.
Three Different Tube Lengths - The HI83900 is available in three different lengths: 30cm, 60cm, or 90cm. Regardless of the root depth level, the user can easily extract a soil solution that represents the concentration of nutrients available for uptake by plants.
Porous ceramic tip - The ceramic tip of the lysimeter can be used in all soil types and is constructed of a material that does not react with nutrients. The soil solution is therefore not polluted by the chemical composition of the tip ceramic and the results of the analyzes will always be precise and reliable.
Syringe and Forceps - A 30 mL syringe and tweezers are included to help the user quickly and efficiently create a vacuum inside the tube.
Easy to clean - The lysimeter must be sterile and free of air bubbles before being placed for extraction in the root area. Cleaning solution is provided with HI83900 to sufficiently activate the tube and porous ceramic tip
